This ride will be ‘social’ in nature and ridden at a relaxed pace. All are invited to attend.
The ride for Thursday, June 4, will take us up York Mountain Road by way of Peterson Ranch, Oakdale, and returning via Vineyard, with a refreshment stop at Joebelle’s. Here are the particulars:
Meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial of the Atascadero Lake Park. Ride out Amapoa, turn right on Curbaril, through the intersection at El Camino Real until Curbaril turns into Sycamore. Follow Sycamore to a left on Capistrano, followed by another left on Mercedes. Up the hill, and turn left on 41, left on Templeton, all the way to the intersection with El Pomar. Turn left there and head into Templeton, where we will turn right on Main Street, left on 3rd Street, right on Old County, and left on Las Tablas. We will go under the Freeway and turn right on Duncan, left on Peterson Ranch Road and a quick right turn onto Frontier, which we will follow all the way around to Bethel, where we will turn right to Highway 46. Then we will turn left on Highway 46, right on Oakdale, right on Las Tablas-Willow Creek which we will stay on until it intersects Willow Creek, where we turn left to Vineyard. At Vineyard, please note that we will turn left, ride back to Hwy 46, and then make a right turn.
When we reach the intersection of 46 and York Mountain Road, those seeking to test themselves on a steeper grade will turn right on York Mountain Road, doing the climb and then turn left upon coming back out on 46. Those preferring the path of lesser resistance will be able to stay on 46 until arriving at its second intersection with York Mountain Road and meeting up there with the steep climbers. Whatever our individual choices, we will all turn around at the intersection of 46 and York Mountain Road and return to Templeton by going east on 46. We will then turn right onto Vineyard and proceed to Joebelle’s in Atascadero for refreshments, via Hwy 101, San Ramon and ECR.
