The Team KMan Bike Ride for Saturday, February 22, goes to the top of Hare Canyon. From there riders will be able to choose whether to do a loop to get back to San Miguel, or to retrace their steps in an out-and-back route.
The plan is for the riders to gather at KMan Cycle and Run in Atascadero at 9:00 a.m., and depart at 9:08. That plan could change, however, as the weather forecast is now saying that there is a 50% chance of rain falling overnight on Friday and during the early morning hours of Saturday. So please stay tuned. If it becomes necessary to cancel or postpone the ride, a notice to that effect will be sent out by 8:00 a.m. Saturday.
The loop version of the route goes 76.6 miles (including a few miles of freeway riding north of San Miguel) and has about 3200 feet of climbing. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/29533442.
The out-and-back route has roughly the same distance, with a couple hundred more feet of climbing. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/28842768.
For those who go to the Hare Canyon summit, there will be a stop on the way back for food at Dos Hermanos in San Miguel.
For those who are unable, for one reason or another, to do either of the long routes, there are quite a few obvious ways for you to shorten the route.
