The Team KMan Bike Ride for Saturday, September 28, is the Chimney Rock/Cypress Mt/Klau Mine Loop, counterclockwise, from Vineyard Drive. The full route goes out to the end of Chimney Rock Road and back, then loops around on Cypress Mountain and Klau Mine Roads, returning through Paso Robles via the climb and descent on Adelaida Road. Those who don’t want to go to Paso Robles can return through Templeton via Vineyard Drive, Booker and Las Tablas Roads.
The riders will gather at KMan Cycle and Run in Atascadero at 8:30 a.m., and depart at 8:38.
There are many ways to shorten the ride for those pressed for time. Among them is the option of eliminating the out-and-back to and from the end of Chimney Rock.
There will be a stop on the return at Tablas Creek Vineyards for water and self-supplied nourishment. Those who want lunch on the way back can choose from restaurants in Paso Robles or Templeton, depending on which return route they choose.
The complete route to the end of Chimney Rock, returning via Adelaida and Paso Robles, is 70 miles, with 4805 feet of elevation gain. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/29585136. Going out to the end of Chimney Rock and returning via Vineyard Drive and Templeton entails 66.9 miles and 4554 feet of climbing. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/28856536
