Please note the Beat the Heat start time of 7:30 TEAM K-MAN RIDE
SATURDAY, AUGUST 18TH
LOCATION: ATASCADERO K-MAN CYCLERY
Ride Leaders: Louise and Terry
Though morning temperatures may be cooler it will still heat up as we ride North to enjoy the rolling hills of River Road, Estrella and Lower Hog Canyon before a stop in San Miguel for burritos so let’s gather at 7:30am at the K-Man shop in Atascadero and roll at 7:38. We will head left on El Camino to right on Curbaril to left on Santa Ysabel to right on Hwy 41 to left on Templeton Rd to right on Lupine to left on Hollyhock to left on Neil Spring to right on River Road (regroup). We will continue on River Road through Paso, taking the bike path at Navajo and merging back with River Road at the Union intersection (regroup). We will continue north on River Road all the way to right on Estrella (regroup). We will then enjoy Estrella as we head East to the left on Lower Hog Canyon (regroup). We will ride the Hog to a left on Von Dollen, a right on Ranchita Canyon to a left on Cross Canyon (regroup). We will then ride Cross Canyon all the way to right on River and into San Miguel, continuing up the hill to the left on K street to Dos Hermanos for a refreshment stop at 41 miles. After refueling riders can return home by personal preference with the official route trying out Cemetery Road to the 101 onramp. I do believe that rather than entering the freeway we can ride on the new unopened road pavement a few hundred yards to the right on San Marcos to left on Nacimiento Lake Road to right on Vine to left on 46 to right on Ramada to left on N. Main Street to left at the signal on Main to right on Templeton Road to right on 41 and back to the shop for a 70 mile ride. Please see the Ride with GPS link for route details.
70 miles with 3200’ of climbing: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/28354887
The ride may be shortened by heading right on Airport Rd/Wellsona/River from Estrella (45 mile ride) or by taking River Road home from San Miguel (65 mile ride).
